Its aim is to get new users accustomed to the main start and get an overview of the most important features of the AirID and walked him through the steps of pairing and connecting.. AirID

Quick Start Guide

certgate is pleased to welcome you as a new user of AirID.
AirID is a 's wireless smart card reader that you can carry with you at all times. The AirID reader communicates via a secure Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connection with your device and makes the inserted smart card available for cryptographical operations such as data encryption or authentication. for ID-1 cards, AirID.

This guide explains all the basics of the certgate AirID wireless smartcard reader AirID and gives you step-by-steps instructions to get you started using AirID. Please take the time to read the information and follow carefully the instructions and recommendations of the installation process.

Note: To set up and use the AirID properly a middleware and smart card needs to be available*reader, you will need a smart card and platform (Windows, iOS, Android) driver and other software.

Hardware Features

AirID is a wireless smart card reader that you can carry with you at all times. The AirID reader communicates via a secure Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connection with your device and makes the inserted smart card available for cryptographical operations such as data encryption or authentication.

Quick Start

Charging

Connect

AirID

to a charging source and fully charge it until the green LED turns on. AirID

is powered by a rechargeable Li-Po battery. The battery is charged by plugging the AirID into either a computer or external USB wall adapter using the USB cable provided.

Power On

Insert the smart card to power on

the reader

AirID.

Initiate Pairing

  • Choose "Connection" to activate Bluetooth on AirID.  

Pairing

  • AirID will be listed with its serial number on the BLE devices list. Press "Pair" and enter 6 digit pairing key shown on AirID display.
  • AirID need to be paired through an app on iOS and Android and through device settings on WIndows.

Pairing complete

  • After succesfully pairing "Pairing success" will be displayed on AirID. AirID is now connected with your device and the device name is displayed.

In this section, you will find the steps to download and install the AirID Windows driver, the AirID Central management app and to pair the AirID with your computer.

Prerequisites

  • a computer running Windows 10 operating system and with integrated Bluetooth 4.0 support


Note

For workstations without built in Bluetooth 4.0 capabilities, the ONEKEY

Bridge or a Bluetooth USB dongle

BRIDGE - an USB Bluetooth connector - MUST be used to provide connectivity.

Installation

The AirID Central is a management software for your AirID. The application provides you with information and setting options for your AirID when your AirID is connected to your Windows device. The installation of the driver and software will take at most 90 seconds.

Step 1: Driver Download

Unzip and double click on the .msi installer file

Accept the appearing "Windows Security" by clicking "Install"

Follow the instructions in the installation wizard

Click "Next" to continue

 you need to install and the corresponding installing information.

Confirm by clicking "Next". 

Click "Install" to start the installation.

Accept the changes to the device.

After a successful installation, click "Finish" to quit the setup.

Bluetooth Pairing

Insert your smart card to power on the AirID reader and

activate Bluetooth at the AirID reader by pressing the jog dial control element.

The AirID should display:

Start the Bluetooth settings on your Windows device

Make sure that Bluetooth is activated

Click "Add device" and select the AirID (serial number) of the shown device list

Open Windows "Settings→ Devices→ Bluetooth". Your AirID should be listed with its serial number. Press "Pair"

Tip

OpenSC 0.15.0.0 will be additionally installed on your computer if you select "Install OpenSC" in the AirID-Installer Welcome page.


Tip

If you select "Lock Workstation" in the page "Custom Setup" of the AIrID Installer for Windows, the Windows (local) smart card removal policy will be set to lock your computer upon smart card removal.

Using AirID

When AirID is successfully paired and the driver is installed there is a PC/SC reader registered in your Windows 10 which can be accessed like any other smart card reader. The inserted smart card is available to be used for cryptographical operations such as authentication or data encryption.

Examples

  • Distance Auto-Log-Off (→ Set "Converage Feature")
  • Signature and encryption for your email communication
  • etc.


Using AirID Central

AirID Central is a management software for your AirID forming the basis for usage of the device. The tool provides you with information and setting options for your AirID when your Reader reader is connected to your device. When there is no connection established the various display and settings panels aren't available. AirID Central is available for Windows, iOS and Android.

Using AirID as USB Reader

If you intend to use AirID as an USB reader please insert your smart card, connect the AirID to your desktop via USB cable and confirm the option "USB Card Reader" displayed on AirID.

If "USB Card Reader" is set to "yes", the smart card will not appear via Bluetooth.

AirID need to be paired through an app on iOS. The initial Bluetooth pairing of the AirID will be realised within the AirID Central App. Here are the steps you need to follow in order to connect the AirID with your iOS device. All these steps will take at most 60 seconds normally.

The functioning of the AirID apps with your Android device cannot be guaranteed due to the heterogeneity of Android. In case of an unstable connection of AirID with your Android device or issues concerning the establishment of the connection, please contact our support support@certgatesupport@AirID.com!
