Description

The unique architecture of the cgCard offers an “Open Platform” for system integrators, security application vendors, and OEMs to develop customized solutions for smartcards and security tokens. certgate’s microSD architecture is designed with the flexibility and the ability to be customized for the use of any ISO 7816 standard smartcards.

The operational area and the communication with the cgCard depends on the used platform which can be e.g. a smartphone or PC. Another criterion is the internal structure of the used platform and the physical interfaces. At the moment three different ways are possible to access the cgCard:

  • via certgate PC/SC interface

certgate provides an interface device driver, so that PC/SC based applications or middleware can access directly the cgCard

  • via certgate NFCProxy (ONLY on BlackBerry Devices up to BB OS 7.1)

The certgate NFCProxy provides a standard smartcard interface on NFC communication layer on a NFC enabled device.

  • via certgate SDX

This is a PC/SC-like interface which is platform independent and supports a variety of operating systems. This communication way is only available for cgCard V1.

The certgate PC/SC Driver (PC/SC: Personal Computer/ Smart Card) facilitates the interoperability necessary to allow cgCard to be effectively utilized in the PC environment.

The certgate SDX API (only for cgCard V1) provides an interface for middleware/ application, which enables the communication between cgCard and the host in APDU standard (very low level).

The certgate NFC Proxy (ONLY on BlackBerry Devices up to BB OS 7.1) provides a standard smartcard interface on NFC communication layer on a NFC enabled device. With that, the NFC enabled device will interact with any NFC smartcard reader in a way like a normal NFC enabled smartcard would. Incoming smartcard commands from a NFC smartcard reader which is for example connected to a personal computer or a standalone terminal are redirected to a predefined real smartcard reader which is installed on the device. as a result the certgate NFC Smartcard Reader Proxy supports any installed smartcard reader on the device as a target for redirecting smartcard commands.

Usecases
