→ Bluetooth connection instabilities can be caused by a variety of reasons depending on the environment used. Please check the following things:
1. Improve the settings of the smart card reader
- Set the signal strength of the reader to the maximum by using the AirID Central on your Windows device or by navigating manually to the reader settings
- Set the distance sensor to "Off" by navigating manually to the reader settings (this required an active Bluetooth connection to your host device)
2. Update the AirID Software on your Windows device
- Make sure, the latest AirID Installer (including AirID Driver and AirID Central) is installed. You can find the latest version in the Download Center.
3. Update the firmware of the smart card reader
- Make sure, the latest firmware is installed on your reader. Here you will find the update instruction: How do I update the AirID device firmware on Windows 10 and MacOS?
4. Update the Bluetooth driver on your Windows device
- Open the Device Manager and select the category Bluetooth
- Right click on the Bluetooth Adapter and select "Update driver"
- Select "Search automatically for updated driver software"
- If a driver update is available, select "Update Driver"
5. Check the used Bluetooth hardware of your Windows device
- If you already tested the first four listed items and you are still facing Bluetooth connection instabilities, your Bluetooth hardware might be causing the issues. In this case we recommend you to test with an external Bluetooth adapter. Find a list of recommended Bluetooth adapter here: Which Bluetooth USB adapter (dongle) are recommended for using with AirID devices on a Windows10 PC?
→ Check the power saving setting of your Windows device
1. Check energy settings of the Bluetooth Adapter
- Open the Device Manager and select the category Bluetooth
- Right click on the Bluetooth Adapter and select "Properties"
- Select the Power management tab and uncheck the the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
2. Set the Wireless Adapter settings to maximum performance
- Enter "edit power plan" in the search field on the task bar and click on the edit plan settings menu.
- Click "Change advanced power settings" and choose "Wireless Adapter Settings" and then "Power Saving Mode"
- Change the settings to maximum performance for battery and plugged in mode.
(If the menu "Change advanced power settings" is not available, it can be activated by setting the registry key "CsEnabled" in "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power" to 0.)
