How do I update the AirID device firmware on Windows 11, Windows 10 and macOS?


Answer

Option 1: Automated Bluetooth update via AirID Central 

For Windows 11 and Windows 10 

  1. Download the latest AirID installer (AirID Driver and AirID Central) from the Download Center and install it on your Windows device
  2. Connect your smart card reader via Bluetooth to your Windows device
  3. Open the AirID Central and click on the double arrows on the top right corner to search for available updates for your reader
  4. If there is an update available, the wizard will guide you to the Firmware update process

For macOS

  1. Download the latest AirID installer (AirID Driver and AirID Central) from the Download Center and install it on your macOS device
  2. Connect your smart card reader via Bluetooth to your macOS device
  3. Open the AirID Central and click on the AirID icon in the menu bar (top right of the screen). Select Check for Firmware updates. 
  4. If there is an update available, the wizard will guide you to the Firmware update process


Option 2: Manual Bluetooth update via AirID Central (macOS only)

  1. Download the latest AirID installer (AirID Driver and AirID Central) from the Download Center and install it on your macOS device
  2. Download the latest Firmware from the Download Center and unzip it.
  3. Connect your smart card reader via Bluetooth to your macOS device
  4. Open the AirID Central and click on the AirID icon in the menu bar (top right of the screen). Select Update Firmware Manually and then select a folder you unzipped (it should contain flash_info file).
  5. The wizard will guide you to the Firmware update process.

Option 3: Manual wired update with flashing script

First, download and extract the latest firmware version for your AirID from the Download Center.

Continue with the following steps to update your AirID:

For AirID 2, AirID 2 Mini, AirID FIDO BADGE and AirID FIDO Mini


If the update does not start or if you encounter an "cannot open USB connection" error, please make sure that your AirID device is connected directly to a USB port on your Windows device.
