Quick Start Guide

AirID is a wireless smart card reader that you can carry with you at all times. The AirID reader communicates via a secure Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connection with your device and makes the inserted smart card available for cryptographical operations such as data encryption or authentication.
This guide explains all the basics of the certgate wireless smartcard reader AirID and gives you step-by-steps instructions to get you started using AirID. Please take the time to read the information and follow carefully the instructions and recommendations of the installation process.

General Features
AirID is a wireless smart card reader that you can carry with you at all times. The AirID reader communicates via a secure Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connection with your device and makes the inserted smart card available for cryptographical operations such as data encryption or authentication.

Quick Start
Charging
Connect AirID to a charging source and fully charge it until the green LED turns on. AirID is powered by a rechargeable Li-Po battery. The battery is charged by plugging the AirID into either a computer or external USB wall adapter using the USB cable provided.
Power On
- Insert the smart card to power on the reader.
Initiate Pairing
- Choose "Connection" to activate Bluetooth on AirID.
Pairing
- AirID will be listed with its serial number on the BLE devices list. Press "Pair" and enter 6 digit pairing key shown on AirID display.
- AirID need to be paired through an app on iOS and Android and through device settings on WIndows.
Pairing complete
- After succesfully pairing "Pairing success" will be displayed on AirID. AirID is now connected with your device and the device name is displayed.
Driver Installation and Using on Windows 10
Platform Specific Requirements
- Windows 10 device with Bluetooth 4.0 capabilities
Note
For workstations without built in Bluetooth 4.0 capabilities, the ONEKEY Bridge or a Bluetooth USB dongle MUST be used to provide connectivity.
Installation
Step 1: Driver Download | ||

Step 2: Driver Installation | ||
Unzip and double click on the .msi installer file | Folow the instructions in the installation wizard | Assure that on the last page "start application" checkbox has been marked before closing the setup |
Step 3: Bluetooth Pairing | ||
Insert your smart card to power on the AirID reader and activate Bluetooth | Open Windows "Settings→ Devices→ Bluetooth". Your AirID should be listed with its serial number. Press "Pair" | Enter 6 digit pairing key shown on AirID display |
After succesful pairing "Pairing success" will be displayed on AirID | ||
Using AirID
When AirID is successfully paired and the driver is installed there is a PC/SC reader registered in your Windows 10 which can be accessed like any other smart card reader. The inserted smart card is available to be used for cryptographical operations such as authentication or data encryption.
Using AirID Central
AirID Central is a management software for your AirID forming the basis for usage of the device. The tool provides you with information and setting options for your AirID when your Reader is connected to your device. When there is no connection established the various display and settings panels aren't available. AirID Central is available for Windows, iOS and Android.

Using AirID as USB Reader
If you intend to use AirID as an USB reader please insert your smart card, connect the AirID to your desktop via USB cable and confirm the option "USB Card Reader" displayed on AirID.
Note
If "USB Card Reader" is set to "yes", the smart card will not appear via Bluetooth.
Driver Installation and Using on iOS
AirID need to be paired through an app on iOS. The initial Bluetooth pairing of the AirID will be realised within the AirID Central App. Here are the steps you need to follow in order to connect the AirID with your iOS device.

Go to the App Store on your iOS device and search for AirID Central | Install the AirID Central App | |
Step 2: Bluetooth Pairing | ||
Insert your smart card to power on the AirID reader. Activate Bluetooth at the AirID reader by pressing the jog dial control element.
