Hardware Features


With the AirID BRIDGE, AirID wireless smartcard readers can also be used with devices that do not support Bluetooth low-energy by default or have an unstable BLE connection, such as Windows 7 devices or Linux thin clients. Additionally, if you want to use your reader on multiple devices without pairing it first to each device, the AirID BRIDGE is the best choice. Once the reader is paired with the AirID BRIDGE, the reader can be used with any other device in that AirID BRIDGE is plugged-in.

Connected directly to a USB port, it enables wireless communication - without driver installation. Supported by any CCID-enabled systems like macOS, Linux and other platforms.

Choose Your Platform

Note for AirID1

AirID BRIDGE supports AirID1 with firmware from version 1.2.1 upwards. There are no limitations for AirID 2 and AirID Mini.

Windows 10


In this section, you will find the steps to install the AirID Central App and to connect your AirID or AirID Mini reader with the AirID BRIDGE.

Prerequisites

  • a computer running Windows 10 operating system

Installer Download

Download the latest Windows installer - a zipped .exe file - for Windows at Download Center.

App Installation

Unzip and double click on the .exe installer file.

Follow the instructions in the installation wizard to install the AirID Windows driver and the AirID Central App.

Bluetooth Pairing

  • Locate a free USB port on your computer and insert the AirID BRIDGE.
  • Make sure, your smart card reader is ready to connect: Power on your smart card reader and make sure, that Bluetooth is activated at your reader by pressing the AirID control element. AirID should display: 
  • Move the mouse to the AirID Central App icon in the notification area (or The AirID Tray icon is displayed on the bottom right side of your taskbar). Then click the mouse right button and choose Bridge
  • The searching for available smart card reader starts automatically. If not, click Search to list available smart card readers.
  • Select the smart card reader (serial number) from the list you want to pair with. Click Connect. If the serial number of your smart card reader is not displayed, click Search, to start a new searching.
  • Insert the pairing code shown on yoursmart card reader and click Pair

Now the smart card reader is paired with the AirID BRIDGE and ready to use.

Windows 7


In this section, you will find the steps to install the AirID Central App and the AirID BRIDGE Windows 7 driver and to connect your AirID or AirID Mini reader with the AirID BRIDGE USB Bluetooth connector.

Prerequisites

  • a computer running Windows 7 operating system

Installer Download

Download the latest Windows installer - a zipped .exe file - for Windows at Download Center.

Driver and App Installation

Unzip and double click on the .exe file

Follow the instructions in the installation wizard to install the AirID Central App and the Win USB Compat. The software Win USB Compat is required so that AirID Bridge can be used with Windows 7.

Bluetooth Pairing

  • Locate a free USB port on your computer and insert the AirID BRIDGE.
  • Make sure, your smart card reader is ready to connect: Power on your smart card reader and make sure, that Bluetooth is activated at your reader by pressing the AirID control element. AirID should display:
  • Move the mouse to the AirID Central App icon in the notification area (or The AirID Tray icon is displayed on the bottom right side of your taskbar). Then click the mouse right button and choose Bridge
  • The searching for available smart card reader starts automatically. If not, click Search to list available smart card readers.
  • Select the smart card reader (serial number) from the list you want to pair with. Click Connect. If the serial number of your smart card reader is not displayed, click Search, to start a new searching.
  • Insert the pairing code shown on yoursmart card reader and click Pair

Now the smart card reader is paired with the AirID BRIDGE and ready to use.
