Quick Start Guide


Thank you for chossing our product AirID.

This guide explains all the basics of the certgate wireless smartcard reader AirID and gives you step-by-steps instructions to get you started using AirID. Please take the time to read the information and follow carefully the instructions and recommendations of the installation process.

General Features


AirID is a wireless smart card reader that you can carry with you at all times. The AirID reader communicates via a secure Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connection with your device and makes the inserted smart card available for cryptographical operations such as data encryption or authentication.

Menu

Setting
Meaning
AirID - show the card status
Initialize

The smart card will be initialized. This message will be displayed for a very short time.
Card OK

The smart card is inserted and readable.

If the AirID is connected with a device, the name of this will be displayed.

Card unreadable

The inserted smart card is unreadable. Please make sure that the smart card is correctly inserted and iAirID supports the smart card.
Connection - used to activate and deactivate the Bluetooth connection
Initialize

The Bluetooth connection will be initialized and the advertising mode activated. This message will be displayed for a very short time.
ON/ waiting

The Bluetooth connection and the advertising mode are activated and AirID is waiting to establish the connection.
Bonding

AirID is successfully connected to a device. This message will be dislayed for a very short time.
Connected

AirID is connected to a device.
Disconnecting

Pressing the jog dial will terminate the connection.
OFF

Bluetooth and advertising mode are deactivate. Pressing the jog dial will activated these.
Pairing Code - is used only during the first connection establishment with a device
Pairing Code

A pairing code is displayed and you will have to type it into your device

Quick Start


Charging

  • Ensure battery is completely charged. AirID is powered by a rechargeable Li-Po baterry. The baterry is charged by plugging the AirID into either a computer or external USB wall adapter using the USB cable provided.

Power On

  • Insert the smart card to power on the reader.

Initiate Pairing

  • Choose "Connection" to activate Bluetooth on AirID.  

Pairing

  • AirID will be listed with its serial number on the BLE devices list. Press "Pair" and enter 6 digit pairing key shown on AirID display.
  • AirID need to be paired through an app on iOS and Android and through device settings on WIndows.

Pairing complete

  • After succesfully pairing "Pairing success" will be displayed on AirID. AirID is now connected with your device and the device name is displayed.


Driver Installation on Windows 10


Step 1: Driver Download

Please login or request access at [email protected]


Go to cgLabs → AirID → Drivers & SDKsDownload the latest driver (zipped .msi file) for Windows



Step 2: Driver Installation

Unzip and double click on the .msi installer fileFolow the instructions in the installation wizardAssure that on the last page "start application" checkbox has been marked before closing the setup



Step 3: Bluetooth Pairing

Insert your smart card to power on the AirID reader and activate Bluetooth


Open Windows "Settings→ Devices→ Bluetooth".

Your AirID should be listed with its serial number. Press "Pair"

Enter 6 digit pairing key shown on AirID display





After succesful pairing "Pairing success" will be displayed on AirID



Note

For workstations without built in Bluetooth 4.0 capabilities, a Bluetooth USB dongle MUST be used to provide connectivity.

Using AirID


When AirID is successfully paired and the driver is installed there is a PC/SC reader registered in your Windows 10 which can be accessed like any other smart card reader. The inserted smart card is available to be used for cryptographical operations such as authentication or data encryption.



Using AirID Central


AirID Central is a management software for your AirID forming the basis for usage of the device. The tool provides you with information and setting options for your AirID when your Reader is connected to your device. When there is no connection established the various display and settings panels aren't available. AirID Central is available for Windows, iOS and Android.

Using AirID as USB Reader


If you intend to use AirID as an USB reader please insert your smart card, connect the AirID to your desktop via USB cable and confirm the option "USB Card Reader" displayed on AirID.  

Note

If "USB Card Reader" is set to "yes", the smart card will not appear via Bluetooth.

Safety Advices


Handle the product with care. Keep product away from heat sources such as radiators or stoves and do not expose the AirID to open fire. 

This product contains small parts. Do not leave the product within the reach of small children or allow them to play with it.


Disposal of Old Electronic Waste


 This logo on the product or on its box indicates that this product must not be disposed of or dumped with your other household waste. You are liable to dispose of all your electronic or electrical waste equipment by relocating over to the specified collection point for recycling of such hazardous waste. Isolated collection and proper recovery of your electronic and electrical waste equipment at the time of disposal will allow us to help conserving natural resources. Moreover, proper recycling of the electronic and electrical waste equipment will ensure safety of human health and environment.
